My teacher read this book to my class when I was in second grade. I honestly am surprised at how little I actually remember. At this point in the book I am so sad that they are orphaned and have no one to help them. I am hoping to find out what happened to their parents. I am also curious about what kind of lifestyle they lived before becoming orphans. They have such great survival instincts and are so humble. This makes me think that they did not come from wealth. Before they found the boxcar to "live" in, they were just walking and walking and sleeping wherever they thought they would be safe. When they did find the boxcar, they were so excited and grateful. They were able to picture it as a home opposed to viewing it as a dump like most people would. I can't wait to find out what happens next! I am hopeful that a loving adult will want to help these children! They did mention that they have a grandpa, but they think that since he did not care for their mother, that he will not care for them either. I wondering if maybe they are wrong about him....

Becca,
ReplyDeleteI have never read any of the box car children. But I do understand the bond of siblings because I do have siblings as well. This book seems to be very interesting and I remember everyone talking about these books and how much they enjoyed them. I am also curious how they got to the life style they are in. So, I will have to read these novels to understand and see if they are as great as everyone says!
Hi Becca!
ReplyDeleteI have never read this book but have heard it it really good! And from your feelings, I can tell that it should be added onto my list! Though I do not have but one sister, I do have a lot of close cousins that I would do anything for. I look forward to hopefully reading this in the near future!
Hi Becca!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the Box Car Children! As a elementary student this was all I would read! I am so glad you are enjoying readign this story! I like that you included your own feelings about your siblings just like they do in the book! You will have to let me know how you ended up liking the book once you are finished!
